Bismarck-Mandan Scouts are Raising Funds to help Minot Scouts

Bismarck and Mandan area Scouts are teaming up to help Scouts impacted by the flooding in Minot.   Boy Scouts from Bismarck and Mandan will host a spaghetti dinner to help Minot Scout units and Scout families who are recovering from flooding. The dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Bismarck Elks Club.

Boy Scout troops and Cub Scout packs have lost significant parts of the scouting equipment and supplies it took decades to accumulate, according to Tim Tello, who is chairing the coordinating committee for the spaghetti dinner. Scouting families have been severely impacted as well, he said.

Tello said all of the Scout troops from the area will assist with the dinner. Those attending will be asked to make a contribution to a fund which has been established by the Northern Lights Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Funds raised through the event will be used to help purchase tents, books, uniforms and other items lost in the flooding, as well as to provide assistance to families, according to Tello.

Donations may be made to: Minot Boy Scout Flood Recovery Fund, Northern Lights Council, Boy Scouts of America, 301 Seventh Street South, Fargo, ND 58103.
