Council Announces Public Phase of the Bismarck Mandan Scout Service Center Capital Campaign

The Northern Lights Council, Boy Scouts of America, announces the public phase
of the Bismarck-Mandan Scout Service Center Capital Campaign.  The 6,000 square-foot Service Center located at 3320 Hamilton Street will be developed into much needed youth and adult leader training and conference meeting space, a program supply storage area for Scouts, volunteers and professional staff, a Scout Shop, and office/administrative space. It will be a Scouting home to serve our next generation of Scouts, leaders, parents and District and Council volunteers who will pass through its doors.  In addition, the Scout Service Center will provide administrative support for all Scouting on the western side of the Northern Lights Council serving Dickinson, Minot, Williston and their surrounding communities.

A big thank you to our Leadership Naming Level contributors to include;  Starion Bank, MDU Resources Foundation, David and Connie Sprynczynatyk, David and Marilyn Vinchattle, Brad and Claudia Ballweber, Tim and Julie Tello and Medtronic, Chad and Stacy Wachter, Bill Barth Ford, Inc., Dakota Community Bank & Trust, Gate City Bank, Karen and Richard Espeland, The Leach Foundation, BNC National Bank, Carl and Julie Ness, Mark Zimmerman, Dick Olson, H.A Thompson & Sons, the Pa-Hin Lodge and Matthew Reichert/Aspen Group.   Many more companies and individuals have made important and meaningful contributions to the Scout Service Center.  So far, $624,795 has been raised towards a total project goal of $850,000 or 73.5%.   The Building Fund has raised $491,270 of its $600,000 goal or 81.8%, and the Endowment Campaign for the building has raised $133,525 of its $250,000 goal or 53.4%.   There are still a few leadership level naming opportunities available for the Bismarck-Mandan Scout Service Center.

Several companies have generously committed to support the project with gifts of work and materials including EAPC-Architectural Design and Engineering, Northwest Contracting-General Contractor, Great Rivers Energy-Concrete Base Flooring, Dakota RM-Concrete Labor, and Chad and Stacy Wachter-Construction Materials.  The design phase of the project is underway and we are actively seeking in-kind support from suppliers and sub-contractors.

“We are fortunate that so many companies, families and people have recognized the positive impact that Scouting has on our area’s youth,” said Brad Ballweber, Northern Improvement Vice President/Treasurer and Co-Chair of the Bismarck-Mandan Service Center Capital Campaign. “With their generosity as a strong foundation, now is the time to launch our final effort with the public phase of our campaign – the ‘Dollar A Day’ campaign”, Ballweber said.  “The “Dollar A Day” Campaign gives donors the option to donate, one, two or three dollars a day over the next three years, providing support of $1,095, $2,190 or $3,285 over that time-period”

The Scout Service Center would not be possible without the dedication and sacrifice of time and leadership from our capital campaign steering committee -  Co-chairs, Bradley Ballweber and Tim Tello, Craig Larson, Dick Espeland, Kelvin Hullet, Jay Feil, Norm Clark, Karen Ziegler, David Sprynczynatyk, Ryan Barth, Chad Wachter and staff advisor Cory Wrolstad.

“Our goal is to finish this final phase of fund raising by March 15, 2018 with all construction completed and ready to move into the Scout Service Center by September 1, 2018, said Roger B. Hoyt, Scout Executive.
