Come to Wilderness this summer and work with the Trail Crew Director! Each Trail Crew will work on repairing trails, shoreline, and other projects at camp. You will also be working to develop new trails and campsites.
Each Scout that successfully completes their week as a trail crew member will receive an $92.50 credit toward their 2008 summer camp fee at Wilderness.
Scouts will work each morning until noon at which time they will have lunch and will be allowed to enjoy open programming until 2:00 P.M. After open programming they will work until supper. Evenings will be available for Scouts to participate in the camp evening program.
At the end of their Trail Crew week, they can remain in camp and attend their week of summer camp on a provisional basis or they can return home and attend camp later with their Troop.
The Trail Crew Director will be the supervisor and point of contact when they are in camp. This person will be an adult staff member that is responsible for all crew members.
Trail Crew members will stay in wall tents provided by the camp. Participants can bring their own tents if they choose to. The camp will provide the meals.
This program will run for three weeks. Ten Scouts will be selected for each week. They will arrive on Sunday and leave on Saturday.
Scouts unable or unwilling to perform trail and campsite improvement work will not be allowed to remain in camp for their entire week and will not receive a credit toward their camp fee.
All Scouts must follow the same guidelines as regular staff members. Conduct that does not conform to the staff understandings is grounds for immediate dismissal from camp.
Trail Crew Scouts will not be allowed to leave camp property unless there is an emergency.
Medical insurance is provided by each Scout’s family and the Scout’s Troop insurance policy. These Scouts are not employees and are not covered under Workmen’s Compensation insurance. Check with your Troop for their policy number.
