RECHARTERING

Everyone should be nearing completion on this process, and those having trouble don’t hesitate to call.

FAMILY FRIENDS OF SCOUTING

If you haven’t scheduled a Family of Scouting presentation at you Blue and Gold or Troop Court of Honor please do it now. Without the continued support of family and friends of Scouting, the program would not be the quality it is today. Remember the funds raised stay in the Council to help ensure the high quality of Scouting we have today can continue tomorrow. Scouting is a good investment in our youth for a better citizen tomorrow.

CANDY SALES

The March roundtable was the kick off for this event. The bars have coupons that are worth the $3.00 they are sold for. Candy sales pays out .90 cents per bar sold to the boy to be used for his scouting needs. Everyone needs to feel that they are helping to pay their way, whether it is to camp or high adventure experiences. Give the boys a chance to feel it. Call Jim for candy.

WEBELOS TRANSITION

Scout troops don’t miss the opportunity to recruit new boys into the troop. These are young boys that need to feel they are welcome. Make an event out of the transition. Welcome them in a manner that leaves no question in their minds they are wanted and needed in this new group. Work with the Packs and lets all have a successful transition.

Hold a bridging ceremony at the Blue and Gold banquet. Get new Scouts actively involved with the troop through scheduled activities aimed at new scouts. Don’t forget the new parents, they are already involved so keep them involved, but like the boys they too need to be asked and feel like they belong.

SPRING SCOUT SHOW

Don’t forget to plan to attend the Scout Show April 26th at the Otter Tail Fairgrounds. Every unit is expected to display and demonstrate some Scouting skill or activity. Please have two scouts and one adult at your booth throughout the exhibition in the small ice area. This is an opportunity to show hundreds of young people what Scouting is about outing and fun. Bring your candy bars to turn in the unsold that day.

CUB SCOUT LEADER TRAINING

Are your new adults trained? This is an important part of the Centennial Quality program. To help ensure a good program and retention of leaders, get them trained. Training not only gives the leader new insight into how to do the job they volunteered for it also gives them the tools to be successful. Call Dave Hauser our District Training Chairman to schedule training. 218 739 3859.

CUB SCOUT DAY CAMP PLANNED

The Oxcart Trials District Cub Scout day camp has been set for June 20th 1-7 and the 21st 9-6. The location will be the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center. Look for more detailed information soon.

If you have questions please call Mark Edward Demartelaere (218) 736-7226 or Tom Weiss at (218) 739-5842 for more information and to pre-register. There will be an Arrow ceremony Saturday evening so plan to have your Webelos Scout that earned their arrow of light this past year. The Boy Scouts will have an opportunity to shoot black powder guns during the camp.
