Welcome to opportunities, joys, and satisfactions that will be yours as you guide and help shape the lives of young people.  By making the commitment to serve as a Scouting leader, you have joined the ranks of more than 5,200 registered adult leaders in the Northern Lights Council who are giving of their time and talents to help build a better future for our nation. 

Today’s Scouts are Tomorrow’s Leaders.

As a new leader in Scouting, we recommend you take the following steps or contact your District Executive for more information and schedule your training.

FAST START TRAINING. The fastest and easiest way to begin is Fast Start training - an orientation session designed to help new leaders plan and organize their first meeting. Follow the link to the Cub Scout, Boy Scout or Venturing On-Line Fast Start trainings.

YOUTH PROTECTION GUIDELINES TRAINING.  Once you have become familiar with how to plan and organize your Scouting meetings, take the Youth Protection On-Line Training.. This important training program will provide you with the knowledge you need to create a safe haven for youth.

BASIC LEADER TRAINING.  Now you´re ready to learn more about the Aims & Methods of Scouting, as well as more information about planning and conducting the fun and exciting Scouting programs. To complete your Basic Training of Scouting skills and knowledge, you will need to attend New Leader Essentials and Leader Specific Training for your Scouting position. Both of these courses are offered by your Scouting district.

ROUNDTABLES.  The monthly district roundtable is where methods, skills, and ideas are shared with you and other Scouting leaders to provide Scouts with an interesting, fun-filled, and purposeful programs.  In addition, roundtable programs offer a number of the supplemental training programs.along with information about upcoming district and council events.  Check your District’s webpage for more information about when and where the district roundtable is held and other resources that are available to you.
